Let The Bake Off Begin ~ Hallowe’en Special

29 Oct

This weekend, I decided to do some baking. I don’t do it very often (you can see the results from last time here) but I thought Hallowe’en might be a fun time to crack out the flour and icing sugar and get cooking! I wanted to make some cupcakes for Lilly and started off with pink to try to pipe some brains onto the top of them. It went wrong.

The icing was too runny and when piped it oozed everywhere, so as Lilly loves pink I made her her very own ones with a spider and a monster, and some mini chocolate finger cakes.

Spooky spiders with googly eyes!

A wicked witch and Jack Skellington.

Vampire Bat

The finished products! What do you guys think?

Don’t forget to enter my fancy dress competition; so far I have had entries from Antony and Cleopatra, Kiss, some punks, a mummy and some other fantastic costumes!

Even if some things didn’t go all right, I have to credit you with putting so much effort into it. I’m lazy in the kitchen. I look at all those designs and think, ‘She kept trying and went through a lot of work.’ I so wish I was a least a good salad maker but like most food I eat, it turns out when someone else does it.

Nice job. And you can’t even see any burnt ones. Mind you if I did that, I could sell them to the military as anti-tank munitions.

If I didn’t have a Sunday full of meetings and training I would be inspired to use the kitchen too. Keep up the good work.

These are adorable! I made Mario cupcakes for my son once, and they took forever to do the decorations on the top – swore Id never do it again, so you have my every admiration! I have no fancy dress photos of me!?! WTF is that? I’m always behind the lens, so I miss out 😦 Look forward to seeing the ones you have though.

These are so cute! What did you use to make the shapes for the bats and pumpkins??

    • tinkerbelle86 October 31, 2011 at 1:33 pm #

a butter knife. was a bit fiddly but i just shaped them. It was fun!! the pumpkin is just a squashed circle.

Very cute! Did you make the pumpkins and spiders out of fondant?

    • tinkerbelle86 October 31, 2011 at 7:24 pm #

No I actually made them out of marzipan and food colouring. i didnt have any fondant and couldnt be bothered to go out which was a shame becuase i wanted to do ghosts and mummies too, but the marzipan was yellow.
