San Diego

22 Apr

I don’t have a lot of time today but I thought I would share with you some of the pictures I have taken in my first week in California. This week has just been chilled, but next week we are going to Los Angeles, and the week after we plan to camp in the Grand Canyon, so it will get a little more exciting! Right now Im just chilling out with my family and finding it increasingly difficult to be motivated to write every day!

The images above and below are at the Bluffs at Del Mar; as you drive down Del Mar Heights Road from our house you can see the ocean sparkling, its so beautiful. The Bluffs are the cliffs that run above the beach and along the train line, and its such a stunning walk to take.

The image below was taken on the dog beach at Del Mar; we weren’t there for long as one of the dogs got in a fight with someone elses and part of her ear got bitten off. It was quite distressing for everyone and Shade now has to wear a cone on her head to stop her from shaking here ears and opening the wound again. Her poor little ear!

Beautiful place hun and I’m sorry your dog got bitten – sometimes these things happen…

Hope you have a great holiday and a more peaceful one…

    Love and hugs!

My dog had to wear one of those cones after eye surgery. I hope the ear is better.

It’s too bad I didn’t get chance to meet ya!

We’re in Orange County between San Diego and Los Angeles! Where is your family? They live in Del Mar?

L.A. is yucky. (You’ll pass us on your travel there- we’re right where the 5 and 405 freeways meet in Irvine)

Sorry the weather has been overcast.

If you’re heading to the “LA” area- do you like Amusement Parks? Everyone hits Disneyland (which is way over-priced and too crowded) However, there is Knotts Berryfarm not too far from Disney. Also, if you dig intense roller coaster/water rides- Magic Mountain is about 30 minute drive from LA. Now is the time to hit there before desert is too hot and not crowded.
(we just bought season passes for Magic Mountain, I don’t mind showing your family the place! E-mail me if interested here’s their website:

Seriously- we love that place and we’d love to show it off to visitors! My 7 year old just went on Goliath!

have fun! Grand Canyon is beautiful! Be careful, people fall off it all the time trying to get great photos.

Lovely shots, especially that last one! It has such a nostalgic mood to it somehow. I’m so sorry to hear about Shade’s incident. Oh my goodness, that must’ve been so scary for her! How long will she be wearing the cone? Here’s hoping she’s feeling better now!

Ah, you’ve made me homesick! I was born and raised in Southern California and spent a good deal of my days at the beaches (slightly more northern than San Diego tho – Newport, mostly). Wow, I miss it so much! I’ve make it to the Oregon coast frequently, but haven’t been back to California in… gosh, at least 17 years! Yikes. It’s time for a trip!
