Has anyone else noticed the worrying reality that Starbucks is taking over the world? In my town alone, there are four and they seem to be springing up all over the place. I saw an article this morning that Starbucks are taking phone orders in the US via an app which means you can order and pay for your coffee on the phone, and then just swing by and pick it up.
My family in San Diego cannot get enough of the brand. I called them on Christmas Day to find out how their Christmas morning had gone, to be met with the answer that someone had just been out for Starbucks, and they were going to open their presents pretty soon. I queried that the outlet was even open, what with it being Christmas Day and all, and was surprised to hear that “not everything is open. Only the essentials like the grocery store, the pharmacy… oh and Starbucks.”
Of course!! Starbucks, which started as a humble coffee bean roaster in Seattle in the early 1970’s has expanded so greatly that in the year 2000 it was opening a new store EVERY DAY.
You mark my words, pretty soon we’ll be told Starbucks is the first coffee shop to be opening a store in space.
